I had to be completely realistic here. Most working woman cook fish from the freezer for mid week meals. I had so many requests to offer up a non-white, non watery recipe using regular fish fillets so here is a 4 ingredient one, needing no fresh lemon or herbs…

From frozen to fabulous four ingredient fish (4)
4 fish steaks
4 TBS black bean and garlic sauce
4 TBS sesame seeds
1 TBS sesame or olive oil 

Mix sauce and oil and spread onto fish. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and

  • For thick frozen fish like the Woolworths Cape Whiting steaks (or the fish which is folded over), bake from frozen at 200 ˚C for about 35-40 minutes or till cooked (ignore the box instruction-there is no way it takes 5 minutes a side to grill  from frozen)
  • For normal flat frozen hake portions bake at 200 ˚C for about 20 minutes
